Using GIF files

To use .gif files instead of .jpg files you need to modify two internal files to accept and look for the .gif files. I took this off the forum:

Modifying this files:
prestashop/modules/editorial/editorial.tpl
prestashop/modules/editorial/editorial.php

Change every place where says “jpg” and writting “gif”

This doesn't work! Every time I try it I lose the Home Editor Module.

Installation Notes - finishing - stuck on step 4

The install process sort of just ends and never goes past the fourth screen. Assigned password (from Chaut). Turns out that when I uncheck the e-mail box I can more forward. That was the problem with the first time I tried to install the program the second time - I thought I was done but I was not.

Installation Notes - database

For some reason the database connection doesn't seem to 'take' readily and keeps reporting that it isn't verified. That sort of gets you stuck at that point in the process. By trial and error I went back to the beginning of the entire installation thing and went through the entire process again and when I got to the database part re-entered the same data, that time it worked. I had this problem the first time through on this as well so there's something there that isn't quite right but this time (second time through) I got it fixed a lot faster.

Installation Notes - uploading

When uploading the prestashop file to the web site first unzip prestashop on your local drive and then upload all the files and directories. Do not upload the root directory because then the files aren't visible - you have to select all the files in the bottom window and upload from there.
